The Pennsylvania Food Processors Association (PFPA) was founded in 1914 and is a voluntary, nonprofit trade association, compromised of food processing companies within the Commonwealth and other states. At the time of its inception, a group of concerned individuals recognized the need to form an association that would represent the interests of the food processing industry, primarily on legislative/regulatory issues.
Our trade association has evolved from a coalition of canners into an organization encompassing the many facets of food processing in Pennsylvania. The Commonwealth is widely recognized as a leader in the north-east in its number of food processing facilities.
Our purpose is to maintain the distinguished reputation that our industry has earned in the manufacture of wholesome foods by providing education, technical and other industry-related services, while constantly striving to promote working relationships and co-operation among all processors and others with a mutual interest.
PFPA’s primary objective is to influence legislation in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that strengthens the ability of our member firms to process food. We pride ourselves in our ability to effectively lobby the Pennsylvania General Assembly, the administration, and state agencies. In addition, we work in conjunction with the national food industry associations on federal issues. |
